The world has been going digital for the past few years and almost every sector has been trying to keep pace. The music industry has platforms where the digital format of songs and albums can be purchased and streamed. These platforms include iTunes, Spotify, Tidal, Vodafone Music and locally Mvesesani, it has resulted in decreased CD sales. In the book industry, the lead platform is Amazon Kindle another is the Nook from Barnes and Noble. The Kindle is a device that enables users to browse, buy, download, and read e-books, newspapers, magazines and other digital media via wireless networking to the Kindle store. These are a number of reasons why you should consider having a Kindle.

Portable
A Kindle is ideal to carry around especially if you are an individual on the move, travel a lot or would like to read something while on a queue. You don’t want to carry books that are heavy and take up space. A Kindle allows you to have as many books as possible without ever worrying about the weight and space.

Cheap
The books are generally cheaper than the hard copy. The reason the books are cheaper is because it is easier to produce an e-Book than a hard copy. There is no paper involved, distribution or storage costs. You cannot lose the book as it is linked to your Amazon account.

Free Books

The great part about the Amazon Kindle is that you are also able to access thousands of public domain books. Public domain books are books whose copyright has expired and have become legally available to download for free. There are some impressive titles that you might be familiar with that are public domain books- The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason, War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy, As a Man Thinketh by James Allen as well as works by Charles Dickens and William Shakespeare, etc.

Instant Delivery

Once you purchase the book it becomes available for download instantly. You do not need to wait days for it to be delivered or walk to a book shop to purchase it. As long as you have internet connection you are able to get the book.

Free Sample

Have you ever bought a book and ended up disappointed with the purchase?  Kindle allows you to read a sample. It is often the first chapter or the first few pages if the chapter is long. This will allow you to decide if you want to go ahead and buy the book or not. You can get as many samples as you like.

App
In case you do not feel like purchasing the physical Amazon Kindle, you can download the app from Google Play Store. You will be able to browse for books and purchase them from the app. You basically have the same functions that the Kindle provides only difference is that you would be using your phone to read the books.

Of course, there will be people who will say that nothing beats a hard copy book. However, there is nothing wrong with having both options at your disposal.
