FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions.

Here are some common questions about Butali House

What is the process to publish a book?

There are essentially four stages to the process. Editing and proofreading, typesetting, cover design and printing.

How much does it cost to publish a book?
It depends. There are a number of things we consider when pricing such as word count, what type of book it is, and are there illustrations or pictures?
What is the cost of printing?

It depends. The cost of printing is based on a number of factors:

  • Number of copies?
  • Is it paperback or hardback?
  • Is the interior colour or black and white?
  • Are there illustrations and pictures?
  • What is the book dimension?

Generally, the rule of thumb is that the fewer the copies the more expensive.

What is the minimum quantity of books you print?

The minimum number of copies we can print is 50 copies.

How long is the turnaround time?

It depends. There is a lot of going back and forth during the process the quicker the client responds the sooner we get done. We normally advise a minimum of three months from the time we receive the manuscript to handing the client the printed book.

Do you keep any royalties?
No, we do not. The client maintains 100% of their rights and we do not get any royalties.
Do you market and distribute the book once you have published it?
We do not market and distribute books, however, we do provide consulting services and give you access to our large network and various platforms.
Can Butali House sponsor my book?
At the moment we do not have the funds to sponsor the publishing of a book but hopefully in future we shall. We do post competitions and other companies that take submission on our social media platforms.
